When planting season gets stalled, it's time to think about profits.

The calendar says it's spring. Your planter is ready to roll. It's time to hit the fields...except Mother Nature says "not yet."

Cool, wet weather this spring has kept planters across the country parked, and many farmers are anxiously waiting for those muddy fields to dry out and warm up.

Head to the office and use this time to think about your profit margins, says AgWeb margins expert Chris Barron.

"Now's a good time to be in the office and do some thinking about what opportunities are out there in terms of pricing," Barron says.
