CLAAS Unveils New Round Balers

September 19, 2016 10:40 AM

The next time it’s time to bale some hay, CLAAS hopes you keep them in mind. The machinery company has added six new models to its baler lineup.

“Farmers want what adds value to their operation, and that’s what we’re trying to deliver,” says John Schofield, CLAAS marketing coordinator.

New products for 2017 include five new VARIANT balers and a ROLLANT 620 fixed chamber baler.

The new VARIANT 400 Series features an updated net-wrapping system and steel-plate guide that slides out of the way when it’s not in use. These balers also have an industry-exclusive “dust gap” design that prevent dust and debris from accumulating in the wrapping compartment, according to Schofield. Other enhancements include an improved monitor layout, moisture sensor and work/maintenance lights, he adds.

“You’ll get tighter bales and a better wrap,” Schofield says.

New VARIENT models include the 460FR (48″ and 60″ bales), 480FR (48″ and 68″ bales), 360 ROTO CUT, 380 ROTO CUT and 465RC.

Meantime, the ROLLANT 620 fixed chamber baler brings a modern new design and features that include top-notch capacity, durability and densely packed bales, Schofield says. This baler uses a feed rotor to force crop into the bale chamber for easy bale starting and higher overall capacity. The reinforced chamber frame helps handle extra bale density.

“It’s an enhancement of the ROLLANT 260,” Schofield says. “It’s higher capacity, it’s stronger, it has better pickup on the front end, it has a better wrapping system, and it kicks out bales a lot more quickly.”
