Consultant Lowers Corn and Soybean Yield and Harvested Acreage Estimates

July 10, 2012 10:00 AM

Crop consultant Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his corn yield estimate by 4 bu. per acre to 146 bu. per acre and lowered his harvested acreage estimate to 88.3 million -- 500,000 less than the June Acreage Report due to expectations of higher-than-usual abandonment due to drought.

For soybeans, Dr. Cordonnier lowered the yield peg by 1 bu. per acre to 40.0 bu. per acre and lowered his harvested acreage estimate to 73.9 million, which is 1.5 million acres less than the June Acreage Report due to fewer double-crop acres and increased abandonment.
