Crop Tech: New Insecticide

Chemtura AgroSolutions announ-ces that its DoubleTake insecticide has received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency. This broad-spectrum insecticide offers residual control of insect pests in soybean and cotton crops, as well as peanuts and peppers.

It controls all stages of insect life from eggs to adults, according to Don Guy, Chemtura AgroSolutions marketing manager for the ag chemicals division. The product uses multiple modes of action and works through both neurotoxic and insect growth regulator effects to protect plants.
Some of the pests DoubleTake targets are stink bugs (including brown marmorated stink bugs); kudzu bugs; worms, such as armyworms (fall, beet, southern, yellow-striped and true); European corn borer; corn earworm; and others. The product also suppresses aphids, lygus, two-spotted spider mites and whiteflies.
