DairiConcepts Acquires Swiss Valley Farms’ Cheese Business

DairiConcepts, a joint venture between Fonterra and Dairy Farmers of America, has acquired the U.S. hard Italian cheese business of Swiss Family Farms.


The business, previously owned by Swiss Valley Farms' wholly owned affiliate Rochester Cheese, produces private label, fresh-grated hard Italian cheeses and private label, dry hard-grated Italian cheeses for retail, food service and industrial customers.


The acquisition includes Rochester's plant at Dalbo, Minn. Rochester will retain ownership of a second plant at Spring Valley, Minn. Hard Italian cheese production there will be moved to Dalbo.


"We are excited to have the Dalbo team join DairiConcepts,” said Scott Anderson, operations manager of hard Italian cheese for DairiConcepts. "We have been impressed with the quality of their work and look forward to growing our future together.”
