Dean Machinery Company Opens Eco-friendly Headquarters

November 11, 2008 11:17 AM

Dean Machinery Company has tripled its working space by basing its new headquarters on a 25-acre campus. The two major service buildings provide the company with more than 180,000 sq. ft. of service bays, parts capacity and state-of-the-art resources. The main shop has a total of 27,000 sq. ft and can serve up to 18 large machines at once. The parts warehouse totals 45,000 sq. ft. The overall plan of the campus was designed to make as little impact on the environment as possible. The buildings are positioned for maximum use of natural sunlight, and motion-sensor lights minimize electricity use. A dealershipwide recycling effort collects all paper, cardboard, plastics and other recyclable materials from the facility. Waste oil is used for heating, and all cleaners and chemicals used by the company are environmentally friendly. Gas-powered golf carts for employees to transport themselves around the campus have been switched out for electric models. Based in Kansas City, Mo., Dean Machinery Company employs more than 320 people at 11 locations in Missouri and Kansas.
