Deere Announces New Chief Executive

John Deere's board of directors has named Samuel Allen as the company's ninth chief executive in its 172 years.
Allen's appointment will be effective Aug. 1. Current chairman and CEO Robert Lane will serve as chairman of the board until Allen's succession is complete.
As a 34-year employee of John Deere, Allen has been president of the worldwide construction and forestry division since 2005 and has been responsible for the global operation of the Deere Power Systems group since 2003.
