Together with Farmers Feeding the World, Dow AgroSciences announces a $5,000 donation raised from its Pretty Sure Photo Contest for SureStart herbicide.

The contest featured a website for sharing photos of unexpected moments experienced by growers on the farm. From a tractor stuck in the mud to a collapsed bridge, growers uploaded their "pretty sure" moments for a chance to be selected as one of three winners.

For every submission received as part of the two-month photo contest at, Dow AgroSciences committed to donating $5, up to $5,000, to Farmers Feeding the World.

"The Pretty Sure Photo Contest had a lot of great entries, and we are pleased to support Farmers Feeding the World with a donation of $5,000," says Ryan Messner, product manager, corn herbicides, Dow AgroSciences. "Unlike the pretty sure moments, we are sure about SureStart, which provides growers flexibility and proven weed control in their corn fields."

Farmers Feeding the World raises financial support for organizations already on the front lines in fighting global hunger and educates the general public about U.S. agriculture's role in feeding a hungry world.

"Partnerships like this with Dow AgroSciences are a great example of how all of us in agriculture can combine our efforts to do work that is especially meaningful for people everywhere," says Brian Harvey Hogue, director of operations, Farmers Feeding the World. "We appreciate fun contests like Pretty Sure that support our efforts and encourage growers to use technologies such as SureStart to optimize their yield potential and contribute to feeding the world."

The photo contest was designed to remind growers of the dependability SureStart provides to their weed control program for conventional or herbicide-tolerant corn. It offers flexibility, taking the guesswork out of application timing so growers are sure, not just pretty sure, of their weed control. SureStart offers broad-spectrum control of more than 60 difficult-to-control grasses and broadleaf weeds, including herbicide-resistant weeds.

The three Pretty Sure Photo Contest winners are the following:

  - "I misjudged the bridge." Greg F. of Hurley, S.D.

  - "Misjudged this ground." Jessie E. of Krotz Springs, La.

  - "Tile ditches get you every time." Brian C. of Terril, Iowa
