Each day agriculture safety awareness, promotion and education through training, articles and stories can hopefully save lives. Tragic accidents on farms and ranches can happen yet should be preventable.
Growing up on a Nebraska farm, I'm reminded of all the dangerous ways individuals threaten themselves due to carelessness and not taking precautions.
Age can be a factor for agriculturalists. Youth often take risks working with machinery, driving tractors, working with livestock. Grain bin entrapments are concerns. Rural fire and rescue departments have tremendous needs for training programs.
Safe use of pesticides are necessary. Storing those hazardous products under lock and key are a must.
I've known individuals who have died in tractor rollovers, ATV accidents, horse accidents, grain bin accidents, road accidents and entanglements in machinery.
That is why I'm actively promoting farm and ranch safety education.
