Talking to our readers has always been a favorite part of my job. For years, there were basically three times I could catch a farmer on the phone: first thing in the morning, noon and after dark. Those were also the days when I knew all the good spots with pay phones across the country. Now, in the days of cell phones and auto-steering, I can reach a farmer virtually anywhere, anytime. The conversations are not only enjoyable, but the ideas sparked by our discussions drive the practical content that Farm Journal delivers every month.
With this magazine, I invite you to take advantage of another way to connect: join the Farm Journal reader panel. Called Farm Journal Pulse, the national panel uses text-message polls to share opinions and input. Your answers are anonymous, but your responses are valuable in providing an accurate snapshot straight from the farm.
We’ll report on the results and use what we learn to help guide the content we create. Many of our most popular efforts today—the Farm Journal Test Plots and the Legacy Project, for example—are a direct result of farmers telling us what’s on their minds and asking for more information. Quite simply, hearing about what’s going on across farm country helps us do a better job of helping you.
Research shows that the majority of farmers use text messages. If you’re one of them, I hope you’ll consider joining the Farm Journal Pulse reader panel. It’s a quick, easy way to be heard and be a part of the Farm Journal team.
