Dow AgroSciences announced Wednesday the U.S. launch of Enlist corn for the 2018 season. This is following the long-awaited approval from the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China.
“We are very excited to bring the Enlist system to farmers in the U.S. and Canada,” says Tim Hassinger, president and CEO, Dow AgroSciences. “The feedback on the performance during our Stewarded Introduction has been extremely positive, as growers have been very impressed with both the weed control as well as the formulation advancements we have made, reducing the potential for drift and volatility.
Enlist corn allows farmers to use Enlist Duo herbicide with Colex-D for in-season weed control. Enlist Duo contains 2,4-D choline and glyphosate. Enlist corn will be available in SmartStax Enlist and PowerCore Enlist hybrids. The product will be available from Dow seed companies including Mycogen Seeds, Brodbeck Seeds, Dairyland Seeds, Pfister Seeds and Prarie Brand Seed later this summer. The company also plans to license this product to more companies.
Farmers still need to wait to plant Enlist soybeans. “Dow AgrosSciences is ready for full commercialization of Enlist Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans and Enlist E3 soybeans and is considering options for the 2018 as it awaits final import approvals from China and the European Union,” the company said in a recent news release.
Enlist cotton was launched in 2016 under the PhytoGen brand.
