ERS: U.S. Ag Trade Surplus in Excess of $4 billion for February

U.S. agriculture trade for February 2013 resulted in a trade surplus of $4.162 billion, according to the USDA Economic Research Service's quarterly update to its agriculture trade statistics. Agriculture exports for the month totaled $12.491 billion, while imports totaled $8.329 billion.

Total agriculture exports for the 2013 calendar year-to-date have totaled $25.516 billion, while ag imports have totaled $17.244 billion for a surplus of $8.272 billion this year. In 2012, total ag exports amounted to $141.342 billion, whereas ag imports totaled $102.871 billion for a yearly ag trade surplus of $38.471 billion.
