Go Grain, LLC, has created a free online marketing stimulation game,, to provide corn and soybean producers with a means to try out different marketing strategies, says Kevin McNew, managing partner with Go Grain, LLC. The purpose of the game is for farmers to come away with a better knowledge of the market and trading decisions.
The game allows users to gain experience using real-world marketing tools and their own particular cash market. Every participant has an account with a simulated value of 100,000 bu. of corn and 50,000 bu. of soybeans to trade, McNew says. They have the choice of submitting trades online using cash, futures or options markets. Players receive periodic account statements to measure their success in this fantasy market.
The program is a good way for farmers to try out different strategies without losing real money, McNew says. The program is a series of games designed for participants to gain experience, and the first game started on June 1.
