A timeline for the continuation of the farm bill is contingent upon several factors including tax reform and budget issues according to Jim Weisemeyer, a political analyst for Farm Journal Media.
The 199A deduction on cooperatives will most likely take until February to fix according to Weisemeyer. Then budget related issues will be the primary focus.
"We still have to get an agreement between the republicans and the democrats on increasing the budget caps," says Weisemeyer. "That will allow them to start working on an omnibus or a major budget bill for the next few years."
This will lead the way to the farm bill debate in the house, which will most likely take place in February.
