The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Convention opened with a speech from current President Zippy Duvall. Duvall shared the successes of the organization over the past 100 years.
While running down a list of successes, Duvall cited everything from standing with one united voice to the passage of the first Farm Bill and included the recent changes to the "Waters of the U.S." rule under the Clean Water Act.
He called on members to take part in the public comment period on the new proposal.
Duvall also calling on President Trump to seek solidarity with other countries in the trade battle with China.
"The trade war in China is going be a long one and we keep delivering the message, we're with you Mr. President, we understand it, but we need to make sure the rest of the world is helping you," says Duvall. "China is not just mistreating us they mistreating the whole world."
Duvall said that as bad as 2018 was for farm income, the year will go down in American Farm Bureau history as one of the most productive agricultural policy years in its history.
