Washington, D.C. (November 26, 2014)—Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich) will headline the 2014 Farm Journal Forum’s Newsmaker Breakfast, the Farm Journal Foundation announced today. Stabenow, current Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, recently announced she will stay on the Committee as Ranking Member during the 114th Congress. Having successfully passed the farm bill in 2014, Chairwoman Stabenow is likely to discuss the legislation’s expected impact on Farm Country and projections on upcoming Agriculture Committee priorities. The 2014 Farm Journal Forum, which is focused on “Globally Positioned Agriculture: Farming Smarter in the Face of New Challenges and Opportunities,” will take place Dec. 10-11 at the Loews Madison Hotel in Washington, D.C. Beginning with an evening reception on Wed., Dec. 10, the event kicks into full gear with its newsmaker breakfast followed by a full day of high-level speakers on Thurs., Dec. 11.

“Chairwoman Stabenow showed tremendous leadership and bi-partisanship passing Farm Bill legislation that encompassed a changing and diversifying agricultural landscape,” said Lesly Weber McNitt, Farm Journal Foundation Director of Government Relations and Program Development. “We are delighted that the Farm Journal Forum’s audience will have a chance to hear more about how new farm policies affect them and learn how the Senator plans to focus her energy and passion for agriculture in the next Congress.”

Other confirmed Forum speakers include: U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack; Mike Stern, President and COO of The Climate Corporation; Darci Vetter, Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; A.G.
