Farm Journal Pulse

According to more than 1,500 farmers, 66% of this year’s corn crop is in the ground, as of May 2.
That figure is just slightly above USDA’s April 29 report of 53% planted. According to USDA, the five-year average for percent planted by this week is 27%.

This week’s Farm Journal Pulse, a text message poll of farmers and ranchers, asked: What percentage of your corn is planted?
Here are the results:
  • 0%: 9%
  • 1-25%: 14%
  • 26-50%: 12%
  • 51-75%: 12%
  • 76-99%: 14%
  • 100%: 39%
