As a retrofit monitoring control solution, FieldNET Pivot Control is the irrigation industry’s first system that upgrades virtually any brand of pivot to full remote control. Instead of spending money to upgrade an old control panel, a new control is mounted on the pivot point and the old pivot turns into a precision instrument.
Farmers often operate with a variety of controls and brands, but Pivot Control is brand agnostic and brings irrigation hardware across a farmer’s fields into one universal platform.
According to Reece Andrews, technology product manager for Lindsay, benefits include remote control convenience, labor savings, single system learning and a simple interface. As aged pivots go through wear, microswitches go bad and problems arise. FieldNET has built-in diagnostics—protection and prevention systems that detect error codes to identify when microswitches are experiencing intermittent shorts that eventually fail.
For those producers who use variable-rate technology, irrigation recommendations and data can be directly imported into FieldNET. Installation takes about one hour. The controller is attached at the pivot point and the GPS at the end of the pivot. Sensors answer questions about whether a pivot is irrigating properly, and when issues arise, a farmer is immediately warned.
