The Cargill beef packing plant in Dodge City, Kan. was back in full production by the end of last week following a fire in the kill floor area.
No injuries were reported from the Dec. 23 fire, but 1,000 employees were evacuated and firefighters took several hours to put out all the hotspots.
KAKE-TV reports operations were suspended Tuesday, Dec. 24, and a Cargill spokesman said the plant had already planned to suspend production on Christmas Day. The spokesman said production would resume Thursday, Dec. 26, and the plant would be fully operational on Dec. 27.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. More than 2,700 people work at the southwest Kansas plant.
