First U.S. Soybean Rust Case Detected in 2012

According to USDA's soybean rust website, the first case for 2012 was reported on kudzu in Montgomery County, Alabama, on Jan. 17.

In 2011, soybean rust was reported in 22 counties in four in the continental U.S. Soybean rust has been found in Georgia (four counties), Florida (16 counties), Texas (one county), and in Louisiana (one county) in the continental United States, and in parts of Mexico and Puerto Rico earlier this year with recent reports out of San Luis Potosi, Veracrus-Llave and Tamaulipas, Mexico.
