Former Secretaries of Agriculture Give Advice to Obama Administration

It was a historic sight, the gathering of six former secretaries of agriculture in person, and one by video, for a roundtable discussion during the Food and Agricultural Policy Summit, hosted by Farm Journal and Farm Foundation on Dec. 3, 2008.
Dubbed a "Conversation with the Secretaries,” the event gave the dignitaries a chance to offer their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture today. Collectively, the secretaries hold 26 years of experience in the top USDA position in charge of the nation's food and agricultural policy decisions.
After an hour of discussion, Farm Journal Washington Editor Roger Bernard put them to a final test with this question:
"If you had the chance to deliver advice to the next Administration, what would it be?”
