Gasoline and Diesel Weekly: Gasoline Eases as Diesel Fuels Firm

July 30, 2013 10:31 AM

West Texas Intermediate crude oil is eyeing psychological $100.00, but is still trading around $103. Despite continued strength in WTI, gasoline prices have eased slightly, but diesel and farm diesel are both up week-over.nozzle

Farm Diesel --

Farm diesel moved 2 cents higher during the report week to $3.378/gallon according to Inputs Monitor data with two of the twelve states in our Index unchanged. The price at the same time last year was $3.17 -- 21 cents below today's price.

South Dakota posted the strongest gains adding 30 cents to the retail farm diesel price in that state to $3.62. Other hikes included a 6 cent jump in Kansas to $3.33 and a 5 cent increase in North Dakota to $3.60.

Missouri lead the downward charge shedding 13 cents to $3.16 -- the only posted price below year-ago averages this week -- followed by a 7 cent dip in Iowa to $3.21.

We expect farm diesel prices to move higher through the summer. If your state is currently below $3.25, consider booking a portion of fall needs today.
