Gasoline and Highway Diesel Report -- 12/27/12

The national average price for gasoline moved slightly higher during the report week while highway diesel moved two cents lower.

Gasoline --

Nationally, average prices moved a tick higher week-over but are finally below year-ago levels. Average retail price for a gallon of gasoline 0.003 higher to 3.257 per gallon -- 0.001 below last year's price at the same time.

East Coast gasoline up 0.005 to 3.355; Midwest gasoline 0.029 higher to 3.173 -- 0.058 below year-ago; Gulf Coast 0.009 higher to 3.054, posting the lowest gasoline in the nation; Rocky Mountain gasoline 0.115 lower to 3.096 and West Coast gas down 0.030 to 3.427.

Highway Diesel --

The national average price for highway diesel moved 0.022 lower to 3.923 per gallon during the report week but remains 0.132 above year-over levels.

East Coast highway diesel fell 0.021 to 4.006; Midwest diesel sheds 0.025 to 3.899; Gulf Coast 0.014 lower to 3.833; Rocky Mountain highway diesel boasts the lowest price nationwide -- falling 0.075 to 3.791 -- the only decliner year-over; West Coast diesel falls just 0.008 to 3.989.
