AGCO’s investment in the Gleaner combine line has come to fruition with the Gleaner S7 Series Transverse Rotor Combines.
The new Series, models S77 and S67, are designed to help large-scale producers harvest a higher number of acres with improved capacity and efficiency, says Kevin Bien, combine product and marketing manager for the company. Yet the models weigh only 31,000 lb.
Bien says the company tested the combine during harvest for each of the past three years, including 2009.
“Last fall was the toughest harvest I’ve seen in probably 25 years and its performance was fantastic, even under very wet conditions,” he says.
Bien adds that the S7 Series is more fuel efficient at higher horsepower ratings than previous models: Model S77 delivers 370 hp (276 kW) at 2,100 rpm with a power bulge at 1,950 rpm that jumps to 398 hp (297 kW); the model S67 offers 314 hp (234 kW) at 2,100 rpm with a power bulge of 344 hp (257 kW) at 1,950 rpm. S7 Series Combines offer up to a 390-bushel capacity.
The S7 Series combine features a fully welded frame and low center of gravity which help eliminate flex and improve torque distribution to put more power on the ground. This, plus its light weight, contribute significantly to the machine’s agility and maneuverability regardless of field conditions and allow the machine to harvest and clean larger amounts of grain while leaving a lighter footprint across the field.
The S7 Series carries a retail price of roughly $365,000, depending upon selected features. You can learn more about the new Series in the following video and also by going to www.AGCOcorp.com.
The first fully Tier IV interim compliant combine on the market, the S7 Series is powered by a Sisu Power 8.4 CWA-4V liquid-cooled, turbocharged engine featuring the company’s e3 SCR technology.
