Global Dairy Recovery Still in a Skid

The Northern Hemisphere's winter is almost here and – like driving on a snow-covered road – the global dairy recovery is having a hard time gaining traction, according to Rabobank’s Dairy Quarterly outlook report.

The Rabobank report noted fourth-quarter 2015 international dairy commodity prices stabilized, but failed to show any signs of recovery. And, while the pace of production growth is slowing in major exporting areas, it isn't enough to reduce burdensome supplies.

"Looking forward, Rabobank expects the brakes to be applied to milk production in export regions in the first half of 2016, although this will be less dramatic and less evenly spread than we had in mind a few months ago," said Kevin Bellamy, Rabobank Dairy senior analyst.
