Gulke: Optimism in the Grains

January 20, 2018 05:02 AM

In this week’s Weekend Market Report, Jerry Gulke, president of the Gulke Group, sits down with host Pam Fretwell to talk about the generally positive trading in most grains this week.

Corn ended the week near the January highs and soybeans closed higher with prices matching those of mid-December. Soybeans are in new highs for the year despite weather unknowns in South America; however, South American weather over the next 30 days will impact the soybean prices. What happens in South America now will likely also have an impact on what farmers decide to plant next spring.

“Even live cattle were higher this week on continued good demand,” Gulke says.
