Harvesting More than Half Done

October 12, 2010 10:26 AM

Soybean harvest is two-thirds complete and corn, 51%, reports USDA. Fifty-two percent of grain sorghum is harvested and a third of cotton. The five year averages for these crops are 48%, 43%, 30% and 24%.

Crop conditions have changed very little: Corn improved by two percentage points in the Good category and two percentage points moved out of the very poor and poor categories.

Seventy percent of winter wheat is planted, a touch ahead of the average 68%. USDA reports 38% emerged, about average.
