NMPF Wants Your Comments on Updated Version of FARM Program

Changes include an end to tail docking by Jan. 1, 2017.

Now’s your chance to comment on the updated and revised version of the FARM (Farmers Assuring Responsible Management) program, which included moving up the effective date of a national ban on tail docking to Jan. 1 2017.

The FARM Program is administered by the National Milk Producers Federation in partnership with Dairy Management, Inc. The aim is to create one, uniform and national animal care program across the country.

The draft of the 3.0 Version includes both major and minor changes to all 11 chapters of the manual, says Emily Meredith, NMPF vice president of animal care. Those interested in providing comments on the draft Animal Care manual should utilize the comment form

All comments must be submitted to Emily Meredith by Wednesday, January 6 at 5:00 pm.

If you are flushing your alley ,s where cow's walk it is a must to dock tails .And you don't need to dock as high ,I dock just above where the tail hair starts.

How many consumers that are pushing theses ban's on the people who are feeding the country taking hardly no time off putting there lives and families and life style at stake everyday not getting the weekends off or working for money, we do all we can for are animals and spend every last nickel on the. Are families are suffering because of low prices and high inputs but not are cows. Back to the point from the start there are so many pets declawed, fixed, in cages, or have a shocking device on them, stuck in a house or yard and not able to run about as they wish or as nature is intended for them, They even dress them against there will. But WHEN A FARMER DOES ANYTHING ITS SO CRUEL TO THE ANIMAL. This country needs to starve a bit so there is some thankfulness to the people who work there ass off for little pay. Have a nice day

It should be totally illegal to dock cows tails as it is in the UK. The definition of a cow is '4 stander uppers, 4 hanger downers, 4 sticker outters and a swisher'
