Mechanized vehicles and airplanes were starting to make their way onto the battlefield during World War I. A lot of the war relied on animal power, much of which was supplied from the Midwest.

On American Countryside, Andrew McCrea looks at Lathrop, Missouri, who helped supply horses and mules to the overseas effort.
