The attention-getting post this week was from an article outlining some of the underlying motivations for Tea Partiers.  I point to on aspect - declinism - as often familiar to those of us in rural America, who have watched our communities and institutions decline along with population.  Another familiar philosophical tendency is producerism, which is definitely a part of farmer-think.
Continuing the climate debate, a professor in Illinois has a theory corn and soybeans raise the average dewpoints creating our own microclimate right here in the middle of the country. One thing is sure - we don't lack for water vapor for plenty of rain.
