Informa Raises Corn Acreage Peg At Expense of Soybeans

Sources close to Informa Economics say the firm has updated its 2012 planted acreage estimates. The firm has reportedly increased its corn and all wheat acreage estimates, while leaving cotton unchanged and lowering expected soybean planted acreage. Following are details:

 

  • Corn: 94.0 million, up 880,000 from the October estimate. Compares to 91.9 million planted in 2011.
  • Soybeans: 76.1 million, down 840,000 the October estimate. Compares to 75 million planted in 2011.
  • All Wheat: 57.0 million, up 125,000 from the October estimate. Compares to 54.4 million planted in 2011.
  • All Cotton: 12.0 million, unchanged from the October estimate. Compares to 14.72 planted in 2011.
