Informa Updates 2013 Acreage Pegs

Sources familiar with Informa Economics say the firm has updated its 2013 U.S. acreage estimates. It reportedly raised its soybean acreage estimate from its earlier estimate, while corn held virtually unchanged. Following are details:

  • Corn: Informa reportedly estimates corn acreage at 97.5 million, virtually unchanged from its own September estimate, but 590,000 higher than 2012.
  • Soybeans: Informa reportedly estimates soybean acreage at 80 million, up 115,000 from its own September estimate and 2.8 million above 2012.
  • All wheat: Informa reportedly estimates all wheat acreage at 56.8 million, down 315,000 from its own September estimate, but 1.1 million above 2012.
  • All cotton: Informa reportedly estimates all cotton acreage at 10 million, virtually unchanged from its own September estimate, but 2.3 million below 2012.
