Investors Flock to Ag Startups

The next frontier of ag has become the apple of many an investor’s eye.

According to Dow Jones VentureSource, U.S.-based startups in agriculture and forestry have attracted more than $161 million worth of venture investments  in 2015, putting the category on pace to exceed last year’s total of $179 million.

Most of these 2015 investments have been in precision ag companies serving row-crop farmers and other growers interested in using data, maps and other information to make better agronomic decisions.

Dow Jones VentureSource has been tracking venture capital investments in agriculture and forestry since 1992.
