Moisture Indicator Advancements

Streamlining moisture and yield information, the Claas Moisture Meter is an onboard management tool that provides instant crop condition data and indicates when a crop is at its peak for harvesting. The Moisture Meter is designed for the Jaguar 900 Series of forage harvesters and works in conjunction with the Claas yield meter. The yield meter uses the dry content matter to activate moisture measurement and adjust yield measurements. The collected data is directly displayed on the in-cab CEBIS monitoring system.

Ideal for alfalfa and grass silage growers, this system provides real-time data for tons per hour, acres per hour, tons per acre and total tons. The Moisture Meter requires the yield meter for operation, and it can be installed on any Jaguar 900 model. Base price: $6,500. For more information, visit a Claas dealer or www.claasofamerica.com

Trimble Broadens Range

In order to consolidate precision components, Trimble has acquired Rawson Control Systems, Inc., and Tru Count, Inc. Trimble's product offering will incorporate the full line of Rawson variable-rate planter drives and controllers, variable-rate fertilizer controllers, mechanical remote electric control valves and speed reducers. The acquisition of Tru Count includes its line of air and electric clutches. Both acquisitions complement Trimble's precision ag range.

Field Computer Upgrades

Raven Industries has two new technologies available for its customers, the Envizio Pro with variable-rate application capabilities and the Switch Pro multifunction field computer.

Single-product variable-rate application (VRA) abilities are available on Envizio Pro field computers. VRA capitalizes on Envizio Pro's enhanced prescription map capabilities. Retrieving maps is fast and simple, with compatibility to most ag mapping software.

Growers can apply less fertilizer and pesticides in areas where less is needed and maintain levels where they can maximize yields, therefore controlling their input costs more effectively. Features include a 3-D moving-map guidance display with multiple screen views, a 6.4" touchscreen display, four field patterns, industry-compatible technology, real-time data mapping, field reports, and record-keeping and dual-product control. Price range: $2,130 to $2,195, depending on cables.

For greater compatibility in product control management, the new Switch Pro product controller is compatible with the Envizio Pro and Viper Pro field computers. The controller can plug directly into the field computer. Switch Pro combines the technology of
several devices into a single console that includes single-product control, 10-boom-section control, a speed-sense control and AccuBoom boom-section control. Price range: $3,500 to $3,795, depending on GPS antennas. For more information, call (800) 243-5435 or visit www.ravenprecision.com.

Ease into Precision Farming

The entry-level Edge display from Ag Leader Technology, Inc., combines SeedCommand, DirectCommand, yield monitoring and SMS software products. During seasonal operations, the Edge display can be moved from vehicle to vehicle. The 6.5" color touchscreen displays real-time mapping and data logging. The system is compatible for prescription mapping for variable-rate applications. Edge supports Ag Leader's AutoSwath feature, which automatically turns applicator or planter sections on and off and adjusts the swath width of combines during harvest. Edge is plug-compatible with the Insight display for easy upgrades. Base price: $1,995. For additional information, call (515) 232-5363 or visit www.agleader.com.
