John Deere has finalized a marketing agreement with STIHL Inc. and STIHL Ltd. for them to become the preferred supplier of gas powered and corded handheld power equipment in the United States and Canada.

STIHL Inc. president Fred Whyte says. "There are already more than 500 John Deere dealers that currently sell our products throughout the U.S. and Canada, so this is a natural extension of our business model."

The existing John Deere-branded handheld power equipment will soon be substituted with the STIHL portfolio at qualifying John Deere servicing dealers across North America. According to Bob Barbour, Group Director, Marketing Operations and Customer Support for Deere’s Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division, "This decision will enable us to better support growth strategies and offer our customers an industry-leading brand of property owner and commercial grade portable power products."

According to the announcement, this partnership unites two premium brands within the outdoor power equipment industry and provides residential and commercial customers shopping at John Deere dealers the best of both worlds.

STIHL Inc. manufactures the world's largest selling brand of chain saws and produces a full line of powerful, lightweight, and versatile handheld outdoor power equipment for homeowners and professional users. STIHL products are sold through servicing power equipment retailers from coast-to-coast -- not mass merchants.
