John’s World: How Fast CAN Farmers Plant Corn?

Two ag economists from the University of Illinois, Scott Irwin and Todd Hubbs, have determined it takes roughly two weeks to get the corn crop planted in the U.S.

But has the size of equipment changed how long it takes to plant the crop?

John Phipps examines this data and has his own ideas on how larger equipment doesn’t necessarily mean decreased planting time.
