Indiana farmer Kip Tom on Wednesday filed official paperwork to run for Congress in 2016, documents from the Federal Election Commission show. Tom, a Leesburg resident, seeks the Republican Party nomination to represent Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District.
“I want to make sure I’m engaged to the point where I’m trying to impact change along the way, whether it’s agriculture, whether it’s trade promotion authority, whether it’s environmental,” Tom told AgWeb.com earlier this year as he vetted a possible campaign.
Four other Republican candidates have filed for the race, along with two Democratic Party candidates, WISH-TV reports.
A campaign committee, Friends of Kip Tom, has been established for the race.
