Land Sale of the Week: $10,161/acre in Central Illinois

A Jan. 19 auction in Macon Co., Ill., saw a large tract of 625 acres located near Macon, Blue Mound and Dalton City, sell in various tracts for an average of about $10,160 an acre. The ground was mostly all tillable with soils offering PIs of the upper 130s to the lower 140s with 147 being the maximum PI rating per Bulletin 811. The lowest-priced tract of 157.5 acres sold for $8,500 per acre. It was 94% tillable with a soil PI 139.9. The highest-priced tract of 161 acres sold for $11,700 per acre. It was 96% tillable with a soil PI of 140.
