Land Sale of the Week: $11,600/acre in Eastern Iowa

A Feb. 13 auction saw 76 acres in Buchanan Co., Iowa, sell for $11,600 an acre. The tract was part of a 155-acre offering located two miles south of Independence, Iowa. The farm was offered in two tracts with Tract 1 on the west side of state Highway 150 and Tract 2 on the east side.

Tract 1: 76 acres; 100% tillable, CSR2 85.3 versus county cropland average CSR2 of 75.4. It sold for $11,600 per acre.

Tract 2: 79 acres; 78 acres tillable; CSR2 86.6. It brought $9,600 an acre.

Handling the auction were Jim Huff (319-931-9292) and Jeff Hoyer (319-795-4320) of Sullivan Auctioneers, Hamilton, Illinois.
