Land Sale of the Week: $12,100/acre in South-Central Illinois

A June 17 auction saw 121 acres located southeast of Windsor, Ill., in Shelby County sell for $12,100 an acre. The offering was 100% tillable and carried an enviable soil PI of 144 with 147 being maximum. A neighboring farmer purchased the property.

Handling the auction was Hank Bauer, Bauer Auction Service, LLC, Windsor, Ill., 217-259-5956.

  You know what the sad thing is? I bet the guy who paid $12,100/acre gets taxpayer funded assistance through government programs. If you can pay that kind of money for an acre of ground which DOES NOT cash flow at that price without a bunch of capital put towards it/equity you don't need government programs to live off of paid for by the American taxpayer. IMHO of course...
