Land Sale of the Week: $4,617/acre in Northwest Ohio

Defiance., Ohio, saw 411.5 acres sell for $1.9 million or $4,617 an acre on March 15. The land was offered as part of a larger auction of 459 acres presented in 12 tracts. Also included were six additional tracts featuring four 22,000-bu. grain bins, a 9,000-bu. bin and a 10,000-bu. drying bin. The tracts were located within 16 miles of Defiance.

A single buyer took 17 of the 18 tracts. A second buyer took a single tract of 47 acres with 31 tillable acres, a half mile of river frontage, several older barns located within the city limits of Defiance for a total of $200,000.

The 411.5 acres were mostly all tillable excluding one tract with 5 acres of woods. Also included was a 5,400-square-foot heated steel building.
