Learn to Manage Your Risk

Join us for Top Producer Seminar and a special preconference workshop

The saying goes: It’s sometimes difficult to see the forest for the trees. The same can be said for farming, where it’s often tough to see rewards for the risks.

During a special three-hour workshop Tuesday, Jan. 24 before this year’s Top Producer Seminar in Chicago, experts Mark Gold of Top Third Ag Marketing, Peter Martin of K•Coe Isom and Nick Stokes of Rabobank will help you identify the best tools you can use to manage around risk so you can discover the revenue potential locked inside your operation.

Then stick around for the three-day Top Producer Seminar. The event kicks off with a welcome reception at 5 p.m. Jan. 24. Drop in as your travel plans allow and leave when you like to meet up with fellow conference-goers or grab a few extra winks before a busy three days.

Learn And Network. Registration and the exhibition hall open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 in the Grand Ballroom. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in for a welcome message at 10 a.m. followed by mainstage speakers Mark Jensen of Farm Credit Services of America at 10:15 a.m. and Joe D’Aleo of WeatherBell at 11:15 a.m.

Learning sessions and lunch will start promptly at 12:30 p.m. and continue until 2:25 p.m. After a brief break, producers will reconvene in the International Ballroom to hear from Kelly Johnston of Campbell Soup Company, Paul Pittman of Farmland Partners and Richard Hadden, a human resources expert and author. A reception will precede the annual Top Producer of the Year banquet and award presentation.

On Thursday, enjoy a live taping of the “U.S. Farm Report” Market Roundtable featuring host Tyne Morgan and panelists Chip Flory of “Market Rally” radio, Peter Meyer of PIRA Energy and Top Third’s Gold. Breakout sessions will follow with presentations on topics including:

  •  Employee incentive plans
  • Estate tax updates
  • Crop insurance strategies
  • Proactive risk management
  • Pros and cons of collaboration

Attendees will continue on Thursday with a series of engaging presentations, starting with lunch with former Olympic gold-medal-winning goalie Jim Craig of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” hockey team at 12:30 p.m. Dessert will follow. Producers will return to the International Ballroom at 2:45 p.m. to talk policy and the new presidential administration with Jim Wiesemeyer of Informa Economics.

Strong Finish. You won’t want to go anywhere on Friday because of the two powerful presentations planned. Enjoy breakfast with our sponsors at 7:30 a.m. At 8:30 a.m., Jerry Gulke, president of the Gulke Group and a Top Producer columnist, will take the stage, followed at 9:30 a.m. by David Kohl, professor emeritus at Virginia Tech University and president of AgriVisions.

The event will conclude at 10:30 a.m. with plenty of time for you to catch your flight or car ride home. See you in Chicago!
