FieldNET by Lindsay Corporation is adding a new end-of-pivot controller option, Pivot Control Lite, that company officials say will give users a lot of advanced irrigation management capabilities previously only available in more expensive, complex solutions.

“Pivot Control Lite is the simplest and most economical way to add remote control and monitoring capabilities to center pivots,” according to Reece Andrews, product manager and FieldNET business manager with Lindsay. “This lower-cost option is the perfect solution for growers who don’t want or need some of the more premium capabilities that come with the full Pivot Control solution, such as remote start.”

The product can be retrofit on virtually any brand or model of electric center pivots, Andrews says. Users can check the status of pivots remotely via computer or mobile device. They can set up alerts and receive customizable text messages whenever the pivot’s operational status changes. They are also able to change application depth, reverse or stop pivots and control the end-gun and variable rate plans.

The equipment can also be easily transferred from one pivot to another, Andrews adds.

“This is an especially great solution for growers with leased land where they have no ownership of the pivot but want the benefits of remote monitoring and control,” he says.

The equipment comes with an optional cable theft-detection package, Andrews says.

“This is valuable, real-time information that can be passed to law enforcement or neighbors to prevent further theft,” he says.
