I agree with Kieth. If Holland can hold back the sea, why can't the Army Corps of Engineers address this continuation of flooding throughout the years? Put American back to work. And the American people are tired of hearing that there's no money. I call BS. This hurts our people and economy.

I feel bad for the people and hope it all works out for the best; my prayers for perseverance and hope to all suffering this disaster here and similar ones taking place around the world. BUT, you build and farm in a low lying area, in a river basin, you will experience this from time-to-time so It should come as no surprise. You will never be able to totally prevent it and the nation (FEMA) and insurance companies can't afford to constantly be bailing out the residents of every location like this that is prone to natural disasters on a periodic basis. I think it's great that local and surrounding residents are pitching in to help, it's the way it should be, both during and after any disaster.
