Look for Herbicide Carryover After a Drought

The first concern for many growers after a drought year might be whether herbicide carryover will occur, Farm Journal field agronomist Ken Ferrie says in Episode 11 of Corn College TV Season 3.

Know the half-life and application date of each herbicide used during the growing season.

"Our highest-risk herbicides are going to be those that were applied this summer, especially on our non-GMO beans," Ferrie says.

Think about sampling some of those fields, especially on lighter soils that don’t hold as much water to break down chemicals.
