Poll results shed light on purchasing behaviors in down markets
As another growing season comes and goes and grain prices remain sluggish, it’s interesting to see how the dynamics affect farm country. Each year, AgWeb.com, powered by Farm Journal, polls farmers on machinery, technology and grain storage topics. The survey allows farmers to learn from each other and assess their plans and habits against their peers. The data also helps Farm Journal spot trends and provide stories that arm our readers with information they can use.
Below you’ll notice most farmers are waiting to expand their fleet until 2017 or later, which is to be expected in light of grain prices. Knowing when and what farmers plan to purchase allows Farm Journal to keep a pulse on farmer needs and provide updates on technological advances in these categories. On the page at right, farmers chime in about tillage practices, on-farm storage capacity, expansion plans and GPS adoption.
Take note: The email survey hit inboxes on June 26, and 859 active farmers weighed in with no incentive offered.
