Machinery Journal: AGCO Pushes for Productivity in 2016 Lineup

November 7, 2015 02:16 AM

Providing farmers with products and services to improve productivity is steering AGCO’s 2016 lineup.

The farm machinery industry has been facing severe headwinds for the past two years, says Alistair McLelland, AGCO vice president of marketing for North America. “It looks like 2016 will be another tough year. All of the products in our pipeline are designed with this objective in mind.”

New products for AGCO include:

Harvest: The 3300 Command Series corn head, available for Challenger, Gleaner and Massey Ferguson combines, is designed to harvest more acres at faster rates. It is available in eight-row or 12-row models and non-chopping or chopping options.

Roto-molded snouts allow for smoother feeding without butt shelling, less trash in the feeder and decreased header loss. The corn head features a large-diameter, high-capacity auger. Price: $65,844 to $135,705.

Tractors: With 110 hp to 150 hp, the Fendt 500 Vario tractor is a versatile machine. The cab features a single, undivided curved front windshield with 320° of horizontal visibility. The tractor sports pneumatic self-leveling suspension. The series is equipped with Varioterminal, a terminal for all tractor and implement controls, such as VarioGuide automated steering system, camera function, VarioDoc documentation system, SectionControl and Variotronic. Price: $161,133 to $176,816.

Tillage: The Sunflower SF6830 high-speed rotary finisher combines four types of rolling-ground engaging tools into a one-pass system. A gang of 20", low-concavity blades set at an 8° angle provides lateral soil movement to level soil and anchor residue. Behind the blades, disk gang reels turn two times faster to break up clods and root crowns. Wavy coulter blades are in a gang behind the blades and reels to size crop residue and fracture the soil. The model also sports two intermeshed gangs of rotary spider tines. Price: $74,388 to $118,034.

Available in 11' and 14', the Sunflower 6610 vertical tillage tool features tandem axles, Sunflower Saber Blades and an overlapping/staggered gang design. The low maintenance tool, which is designed for use during the entire growing season, will be available December 2015.

The Sunflower 4630-09 is a narrow-transport, nine-shank disk ripper with walking tandem axles between large 385/65Rx22.5 tires. The 4"x8" frame has 3⁄8" steel tubing. Models range from seven to 13 shanks, with two blade options: a 28" Sunflower Saber Blade or conventional 28" smooth-edge blade, for depths of 0" to 8". Gang depth is controlled from the cab and adjusted independently of the ripper shanks. Price: $79,092 to $100,812.

Planters: An agreement between AGCO and Precision Planting allows for select White planters to be equipped with Precision Planting technology. The agreement also allows for integration of on-farm data into The Climate Corporation’s digital agriculture platform.
