Tillage Tool Uses Variable-Rate Technology
Available in sizes up to 40" wide, the VRT2530 from Summers Manufacturing offers conventional and vertical tillage capabilities and the ability to adjust tillage aggressiveness on the go. The tillage tool features a front row of dual-mounted disk blades and a rear row of gang-mounted coulter blades. The front disk blades are slightly concave and can be manually adjusted from a 5° to 24° angle. The rear coulter blades are fixed at 0°.
Using the hydraulic hitch, the operator can shift weight between the front and rear blades. More weight on the front increases soil mixing, and more weight on the rear results in residue sizing with less soil disturbance. Weight can also be equally shifted between the front and rear.
Five blade options are available for the rear coulter gang. Finishing attachments include three-bar harrows, four-bar harrows, rolling choppers and a harrow/rolling basket combination.
Price: $110,000 with mounted harrow and adjustable rolling basket. Visit www.summersmfg.com for more.
Planter Toolbar Expands Options
Horsch expands its Maestro lineup to include a 40" toolbar with two row spacing options: 16 rows at 30" or 24 rows at 20" and a splitter option. The expanded offering builds on the original 60" toolbar with 30" row spacing.
The toolbar includes electric drive motors, hydraulic down pressure and a weight transfer system to reduce potential pinch rows. The 40" size is available with 80 bu. of seed and 780-gal. of liquid fertilizer capacity. The liquid fertilizer tank can be switched out for an additional seed tank when planting soybeans, resulting in 160-bu. capacity.
