Michelin Expands Agriculture Tire Lineup

800/70R32 CerexBib

To provide a larger footprint to reduce soil compaction, four new tire models from Michelin feature Ultraflex Technology. Compared to standard radial tires, the technology offers up to 40% lower air pressure. The tire models include: VF480/80R50 179D SprayBib, 710/45R22.5 165D CargoXBib High Flotation, IF900/65R46 190D AxioBib and IF1000/55R32 CFO 188A8 CerexBib.

The VF480/80R50 179D SprayBib expands the VF (Very High Flexion) high-clearance sprayer tires. This narrow flotation tire has a maximum load of 17,000 lb. and speed of 40 mph. This tire is currently on the market.

With a new tread design, the 710/45R22.5 165D CargoXBib High Flotation uses central inflation systems to maintain the lowest pressures possible for maximum soil protection. This new tread design replaces the current CargoXBib tread design. Release date: December 2015.

The IF900/65R46 190D AxioBib is made to handle high load capacities, up to 24,000 lb. on large front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive machines with singles. The tire stands 7'6". Release date: March 2016.

The IF1000/55R32 CFO 188A8 CerexBib is designed for harvesting machines. The tire offers large load capacity and a large footprint. Release date: June 2016.

As part of the recent rollout, Michelin also released a new mobile application that calculates the proper air pressure for tractor tires. Visit to learn more about the 2016 lineup.

More Power in Apache Sprayers

Under the hood, the Apache 30 series sprayers sport Tier 4 Final Cummins diesel engines, which generate higher horsepower and are 5% to 20% more fuel efficient than the 20 series predecessors. The four models include: AS730, 750-gal. tank and 173 hp; AS1030, 1,000-gal. tank and 225 hp, AS1230, 1,200-gal. tank and 260 hp and AS1230 XP, 1,200-gal. tank and 300 hp.

The models are available in standard steel booms 80' to 100' in length or optional 120' and 132' aluminum Pommier booms. They are equipped with straddle mount rear axles and stronger boom racks to provide better cushioned boom arms. The lineup sports a torque-converted mechanical drive transmission to handle tough ground conditions. A redesigned cab lowers outside noise by 6%.

Great Plains Adds Cover Crop Seeder

The ability to maximize in-field efficiencies was top of mind when Great Plains designed the Turbo-Seeder, a cover crop seeder attachment to use with a true vertical tillage finish tool.

The Turbo-Seeder attachment simultaneously tills soil, sizes residue and plants cover crops in one pass. The
attachment produced in partnership with Gandy Company of Owatonna, Minn., features a 36 bu. hopper, 24 outlets and a split shaft controlled by two separate clutches. The meter shaft is powered by a 12-volt, 25-amp motor, and an 8 gal. per minute, hydraulically-driven fan delivers seed to the diffusers. The attachment is currently available for 2400, 3000 and 2500 Turbo-Max models.

Case IH Continues to Invest in Products and Services

With innovation at the forefront, Case IH aims to provide products to meet customer needs. Jim Walker, president of Case IH, says they are in a great position to continue this trend despite the downward cycle in agriculture.

The company plans to put dollars invested in emissions technology during the past few years back into products that allow farmers to be more profitable per acre.

The highlights of the 2016 Case IH recent rollouts include:

True-Tandem 375 disk harrow

Tillage: Known as a flexible year-round tillage tool, the True-Tandem 375 disk harrow features a pull frame with heavy-walled tubing and a spring-cushioned front tongue hitch clevis. The tool is equipped with
TigerPaw Crumbler technology, which has a double edge to achieve 2" or less sized clods. The disk harrow sports 24" Earth Metal blades designed to go 4" to 6" deep with 9" blade spacing. For a full-width cut, the blades located in the rear gangs track between the blades on the front gangs. It has an 18° gang angle matched to the blade concavity.

Patriot 2250

Sprayer: Introduced to replace the Patriot 2240 sprayer, the Patriot 2250 model has 660-gal. capacity and is equipped with a Case IH FPT 6.7-liter engine. The cab-forward, rear-engine configuration model offers 175 hp. With 60'-to-80' or 60'-to-90' boom options, the sprayer can accommodate a range of heights with a parallel-link attachment. The 2250 has a four-speed range hydrostatic drive for more speed options. It is also equipped with Sauer Danfoss Series 90 heavy-duty hydrostatic pumps, new front-wheel motors for on-the-go shifting and increased diesel fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) capacities.

Tractors: With 240 hp to 270 hp, the Optum tractor is a versatile machine. The tractors feature a redesigned hood, grille and roof cap with LED lighting and SurroundVision cab design. The series is equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. Three bar-axle choices offer several wheel spacing options. The series also uses ISOBUS Class 3 functionality.

Enhancements to Steiger tractors include 20% faster shifting transmission speeds, LED lighting packages, split-image wide electric mirrors, advanced steering system and automatic differential lock.

Harvest: Redesigned Axial-Flow 140 series combines feature a two-speed electronic shift transmission operated with a touch of a button. When changing gears, the electronic shift provides control, higher speed ranges and greater traction. Six lightweight concaves are more accessible due to a repositioned tailings elevator. An improved CrossFlow cleaning system automatically detects when traveling on uneven ground. The system also has a six-auger bed system to increase cleaning capacity to 5,000 bu. per hour.

Precision: Updates to AFS Connect include a modem for more coverage, two-way file transfer and expanded support of ISOBUS implements.
