Map Shows Progression of Resistant Weeds Across Farm Country

145 weed species are resistant to one or more herbicides in the U.S. today. Wheat, corn and soybeans top the list of crops facing this increasingly serious problem, with 59, 58 and 46 respectively.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words. Or, in this case, several maps of the U.S. tell the story about the huge resistant-weed problem farmers are facing better than 1,000 words probably ever could.

The infographic below, developed by Syngenta, shows the history and expansion of herbicide resistance across the country, provides a guide on which weeds to look out for state-by-state, and offers some best management practices for your consideration.

Take a few minutes to check out the kind of weed problems moving into your area and, if you haven’t already, make a plan on how you can deal with them effectively this season.
